Your support is already reaching communities affected by the earthquake in Venezuela. As Del Carmen Foundation, one of our local partners, shared:

“As soon as I read your email, my eyes filled with tears. Your generosity is doing far more than funding a project—you are helping save lives. Because of your support, we can continue providing emergency relief, clean drinking water, medical supplies, food, and other essential resources to those who need them most.”

Del Carmen Foundation is one of 6 partners who already received a flexible grant from our Venezuela Earthquake Relief Fund. “Flexible grant” simply means they are free to use the money however they see fit based on the needs in front of them.

Here is a short description of some of the work being put into place:

  • SOCIEVEN, Deafblind of Venezuela, is distributing food, hygiene kits, medicine, and other essential supplies to people living with deafness and blindness in quake-affected areas.  SOCIEVEN is also conducting home inspections and repairs on damaged properties and providing housing assistance whenever possible for those who need it.
  • Fundación Mayu is distributing medicines and medical supplies to hospitals in Caracas and across La Guaira. Their healthcare staff is also providing direct medical assistance in shelters, parks, and encampments for people injured and/or displaced from the earthquake.
  • Mano Amiga is coordinating with specialized shelters dedicated to children left orphaned by the disaster. They are offering those shelters sanitation infrastructure such as tents, waste bins, temporary toilets, and hygiene kits. This ensures the children are safer, healthier, and living with more dignity after a truly devastating loss.
  • Santa en las Calles Foundation is scaling up its collection centers and deploying its medical teams into shelters and displacement camps to deliver vital primary care to earthquake-affected communities. SCF is also providing vital emergency obstetric services and healthcare for women.

As these organizations help their communities navigate the long road to recovery, your support makes it possible for trusted local teams to be there when they are needed most. And as needs evolve, your generosity gives them the flexibility to keep responding—bringing critical resources, care, and hope to communities as they rebuild.

We can never say thank you enough.

With gratitude,

Kyra + the GlobalGiving team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
