Thanks to your support, local organizations are already delivering critical aid to people affected by two major earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24th.

Food, water, medicine, shelter: These are the essentials of current emergency response efforts—and they are what our first round of grants from the Venezuela Earthquake Relief Fund will fuel.

Here is a short description of the work your support is reaching:

  • Fundana is providing emergency shelter, psychological support, and essential aid—including food, water, medicine, and hygiene products—to Venezuelans directly impacted by the quakes.Fundana has also launched supply collection centers to help organize goods so communities can effectively and safely share essentials.
  • Coromoto2020 is working through a network of volunteers and local partners to deliver emergency food, safe drinking water, hygiene kits, essential medicines and other basic supplies to families affected by the earthquakes.

This work could not be accomplished without your support. As the Fundana team shared:

“A thousand thanks. You have no idea how important your help is...our teams are carrying out work in the hardest-hit areas.”

Fundana’s words echo in our minds and reinforce how deeply we appreciate your donation in support of local Venezuelan communities facing this unimaginable crisis. While resources are scarce on the ground, your gift means that affected communities are being reached right away in this critical moment.

You give our partners hope, and us too.

With gratitude,

Kyra + the GlobalGiving Team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
