Healthy livestock mean stable income, nutritious food, and dignity for farming families. This project will deliver life-saving veterinary care to 500 cattle, goats, and sheep owned by smallholder farmers in Kano State, Nigeria. Through vaccinations, deworming, treatment, and farmer education, we will reduce preventable animal deaths and strengthen livelihoods. By improving animal health, this project directly boosts household income, food security, and community resilience.
For thousands of families in rural Kano, livestock are their primary economic asset. Yet most farmers lack access to affordable veterinary services. Preventable diseases spread quickly, causing animal deaths, low productivity, and severe income loss. Without vaccinations or early treatment, farmers fall deeper into poverty. This ongoing lack of animal healthcare threatens food security, weakens local agriculture, and leaves families vulnerable to financial shocks.
We will provide direct, on-site veterinary care to 500 livestock in underserved farming communities. Qualified veterinarians will administer vaccinations, deworming, parasite control, and medical treatment for sick animals. Farmers will also receive practical training on animal hygiene, feeding, and early disease detection. Delivering services directly to communities ensures affordability, timely care, and immediate health improvements for livestock.
This project creates lasting change by strengthening farmers' ability to earn and sustain income. Healthier livestock lead to higher milk and meat yields, reduced animal loss, and improved household stability. Over time, communities will experience better food security, stronger local economies, and improved livestock management practices. Investing in animal health today delivers long-term economic resilience for families across Kano State.
