The Women & Kids Spaces at the Victoria Community Center have been filled with energy throughout the summer months. The school holidays, combined with the growing number of people transferred from the islands, have led to a surge in new registrations and an increased demand for our services. On average, we welcomed around 50 women and 50 children to our space daily.
Our diaper distribution program remains a crucial form of support for the women and children visiting us. Despite increasing the number of distributed diaper packages to 200, the waiting list continues to grow rapidly.
We’re excited to announce a new partnership with a second-hand shop in Athens, allowing us to regularly stock our free wardrobe with much-needed clothing for women and children. With the winter months approaching, having access to warm items such as jumpers, trousers, and jackets is particularly important.
Thanks to the arrival of several new volunteers, we’ve been able to expand the variety of activities offered to women. Currently, they can participate in yoga classes, learn to crochet, create their own jewelry, or enjoy pampering during beauty day.
Our free childcare service remains in high demand, and we are working to increase the number of women participating in language classes and sessions with other partner organizations while we care for their children. We also increased the number of activities for children, focusing more on crafting as well as basic education.
To celebrate our community, we organized a beach day and a picnic in the park during the summer months. These events remind us of the value of being together, building new networks, and fostering a sense of home. None of this would be possible without your support and generosity.
