KOSHISH supported in receiving New Life

A total of 42 women from violence survivor were rescued from remote parts of Nepal. These were survivors of verbal abuse, domestic violence, psychological abuse. Three of these women were rescued with their infant girls. the child were malnourished and hygiene of both mother and infant were poorly maintained. The generous support from GlobalGiving helped KOSHISH provide specialized psyco social support, 24 hour care to all the women identified. 

Out of these 42 women, 27 women have been reintegrated. The infants are also reintegrated to their family along with their mothers. KOSHISH team provided family psychoeducation to their families about importance of family support, affects of violence of women and other membersof family. During their stay at KOSHISH, they were engaged with therapeutic activities such as beads making, paper crafting. From this reporting period, agro based therapy was introduced. Women happily engaged in kitchen garden. These women are followed up ievery 15 days. 

Runas Life:

Runa kumari (name change) is 28 year living in remote part of Nepal. Her life was beautiful for two years. But slowly things changed. Her dream of happily married was true until she witnesses the truth that her husband was already married and had a son much older than Runa. After knowing the truth, her husband tried to convince her that, he loved her and will stay with her. However, he took runa to her parents home and leave promising to return soon. Gradually days of disappearing increased from days to months. He would hardly come, give her some money and would disappear. Slowly Runa started roaming around the village, she already had a baby girl at home with her parents. She could not look after her. According to her parents, Runa’s husband come once in a while. When her parents planned to take her for treatment at traditional healer, she was already 4 months pregnant. Despite multiple visits to healers, her condition did not improve.  She birth a small girl. Her parents take care of her. 

Runa was identified by the outreach team during field visit. They reached to their parents and took detail and concern. She received residential psycho social support at KOSHISH and counselling every alternate day. Runa started taking care of her hygiene. She also started working in kitchen garden and helping with kitchen task. Currently, she is living with her parents. She takes care of her daughter and helpes in house hold tasks. Her husband is in constant follow-up. She is happynow with her child.
