Project Report | Apr 24, 2024
Therapeutic Engagement for livelihood empowerment

By Maleena Maharjan | Projects Coordinator

Altogether in this reporting period, 14 women surviving violence are in KOSHISH safe space. They have survived the difficult times under same roof with family. These women have very low self esteem and needs assistance to perform personal task as well.

KOSHISH has been providing such women with safe space with empathetic support, they receive residential care to ventilate their emotions and counselling sessions to help them in healing process. At the same, these women surviving violence generally are financial dependent on their family/spouse which makes them more vulnerable. KOSHISH thrives to empower them with therapeutic activities. We are looking into agriculture based therapy, sewing and art therapy which can promote their well being as well as provide them skill to earn for themselves. With your support, KOSHISH can generate these skill oriented ssions for violence survivor and help them lead a better life.

"A life I'd never pray for others"

Ms Bishnu Maya (46yrs) female did not know she would survive violence in every form by her husband.  She was well educated and willing to join service and lead a happy life. Suddenly got hitched and her shoulders burden with responsibility to raise 2 daughters soon. Her husband who was already married wished to bring her wanting a son. However, birthing daughters cost her lifelong abandon by her family. She was never provided enough meal but put to work on field as labor. Despite being educated, in lack of family support she lose self esteem to try for better life. with continue psychological abuse and physical violence. She end up behaving differently. Isolating herself from everyone, talking to oneself was her priority. KOSHISH has been her home since 3 years where she comes, heals recover and goes back. But with no income, she fully depends on her husband and relapse again with similar rude behavior and neglects.

There are many such women who can and with your support, KOSHISH can help them find a way to lead a better life on their own. Thank you for all the support till today.
