The Korea Foundation for Women's SOS (Save Our Safety) Fund is dedicated to ensuring that women can live in a safe, violence-free society. Through the SOS Fund, we address a wide range of gender-based violence issues, including sexual violence, domestic violence, digital sexual crimes, and dating violence. The fund supports survivors, promotes prevention efforts, and contributes to building a society where women can live their everyday lives in safety and with peace of mind.
While public awareness of digital sexual crimes has increased due to their alarming frequency and the vast number of victims, these crimes continue to evolve in more insidious and sophisticated ways. Physical violence such as domestic abuse, dating violence, and sexual assault remains a grave issue, and the misuse of digital technology has given rise to new forms of violence that pose even greater threats to women's lives.
Preventing gender-based violence and supporting survivors requires a multifaceted approach-one that helps create a society where women can feel truly safe in their everyday lives. In 2024, the SOS Fund supported various initiatives, including sexual rights education for youth with disabilities, the operation of monitoring teams for digital sexual exploitation trials, and workshops for activists responding to gender-based violence.
"Every human being has the right to live with dignity." To realize true equality, ensuring women's safety must be a fundamental priority. By raising awareness, preventing violence, and supporting recovery through diverse activities that address the many forms of violence women face-both online and offline-we aim to build a future where not only women, but all members of society, can live in safety and dignity.
