In Nigeria, many female nurses in rural areas work long hours without access to vision care. Poor eyesight makes it difficult to read prescriptions, monitor patients, and carry out daily tasks safely. This project will provide 100 nurses with eye tests and eyeglasses, improving their ability to serve patients in remote clinics. Immediate support is needed as these nurses form the backbone of healthcare in underserved communities.
Female nurses working in rural Nigeria often lack access to affordable vision care. Many experience uncorrected eyesight problems that affect their ability to read medical charts, administer treatment, and deliver safe patient care. With limited income and no access to optometrists, they continue working without proper glasses, which increases the risk of errors and reduces the quality of healthcare delivered to patients.
This project will organize eye screenings, provide prescription eyeglasses, and create referral links for ongoing vision care. Each nurse will receive individualized testing and fitted glasses. By addressing untreated vision problems, the project will improve the accuracy and efficiency of nurses working in rural clinics, allowing them to carry out their duties with greater confidence and precision.
With proper eyeglasses, nurses can better serve thousands of patients each year in underserved communities. Improved vision will reduce errors, strengthen healthcare delivery, and extend the professional capacity of nurses. The project will not only improve the quality of patient care but also contribute to the well-being and productivity of female nurses working in resource-limited areas.
