In the fourth Quarter of 2020, despite the conditions produced by the global pandemic, our institution continued its work. With donations received via the GlobalGiving platform and other alliances, it was possible to benefit 24 patients of the ophthalmologic clinic ACREC who had received diagnosis of cataract in one or both eyes. A socioeconomic study was made with each of the 24 beneficiaries to determine the level of economic support that could be offered to permit the surgery.
Among the 24 elderly persons receiving help with their surgery, 100% reported income less than double the minimum per capita salary. Of the total number of beneficiaries 46% were female and 54% male and the average age was 72 years.
On behalf of all these older persons who benefited, we give thanks for the recurrent and unique donations through which the miracle of returned sight has come to them.
