Second Report 2026

MARCH-APRIL 2026
MARCH-APRIL 2026

Vision in older adults directly affects their well-being, independence, and daily safety. When vision problems arise, their ability to move about freely, interact with others, and perform daily activities independently is also reduced.

During March and April, at ACREC we continued to strengthen our efforts focused on providing specialized eye care to older adults facing vision impairments and barriers to accessing health services. Through timely evaluations, clinical studies, medical treatments, and surgical interventions, we were able to address conditions that, if not treated in time, could have significantly impacted their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Early intervention for vision problems helps reduce risks at home, such as falls or accidents, and enables people to remain active within their family and community environments. Preserving or restoring vision also means preserving autonomy, confidence, and dignity.

During this period, we were particularly moved by the testimony of Enrique, one of the beneficiaries whose cataract surgery was made possible thanks to your generous support. In a letter addressed to you, he shared:

“For me, regaining my sight is very important, because at least that way I can be a little more independent and, of course, strengthen my sense of purpose in life.”

He also expressed his gratitude to the individuals and companies that continue to believe in principles of solidarity and humanity, helping those who need it most without expecting anything in return. His message reminds us that every donation represents much more than just medical care: it means restoring hope, independence, and quality of life.

The progress made over the past two months reaffirms the importance of accessible, specialized eye care services for older adults. Improving or preserving vision also contributes to emotional well-being and active participation in daily life.

Thanks to the support of partners and donors like you, we continue to expand access to quality vision care services, promoting care based on inclusion, responsibility, and compassionate treatment.

Thank you for making these stories of transformation possible.
With gratitude,

ACREC
