By Veronica Perez Melendez | GlobalGiving Report
Thanks to the support of donors in GlobalGiving it was possible for 35 older adults to have cataract, glaucoma and retina surgeries, improving their quality of life, as is the case of Mrs. Carmen, 85 years old, originally from Teloloapan, a highly marginalized indigenous town in the State of Guerrero, who was widowed a year ago and moved to her grandson's house. He helps her financially to cover her personal and household expenses. Carmen was diagnosed with cataract, because of this condition she could not carry out her daily and personal activities, being helped by a niece. She underwent cataract surgery, recovering her ability to carry out her activities and thus improving her quality of life.
