Challenge

The Acholi Quarter is a vulnerable community of Ugandans who have been displaced by the civil war. These individuals experienced horrific atrocities during the war and continue to struggle to provide food, clothing, medicine and school fees for their families. They are striving to rebuild their lives. This program provides community members with the opportunity to learn new skills and establish businesses that lead to self-sufficiency.

Solution

Project Have Hope helps community members to access skills training and development programs to expand their income generating potential. Graduates are given a loan to start a small business. As a result, graduates become empowered and are able to provide the basic needs for their families.

Long-Term Impact

This project provides vocational training for fifteen women, allowing them to rise out of poverty and provide basic needs and school fees for their families.
