The School of Hope in Jocotenango, Guatemala has, thankfully, escaped serious damage from the eruption of Volcan de Fuego. Most importantly, all of our students, staff, and families are safe. The school has suffered some roof and water drain damage. In addition, the clean-up to remove the ash at the school has taken much time and effort. In order to cover the costs of repairs and cleaning, we need $1725.00. We have already received donations of $300, leaving us $1425 to raise.
Currently, while our students and families are all safe after the volcano's eruption, they are unable to attend school because of the damage to our roof and the amount of ash in the school and in the air. This project will provide us with the funds necessary to make the needed repairs and clean the school so that students can return to safe classrooms.
This project will allow EFTC to clean up the school, repair the roof and water drains, and get our students back into class as soon as possible without having to use funds we require for our other initiatives (such as education, nutrition, and healthcare).
We will be able to continue educating more than 650 students and graduates to ensure that they have the skills necessary to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families. These students will be able to be successful in their educations because we'll be able to provide them healthy food, clean water, medical care, and psychological support. Through this program, we will provide support to an entire community of families.
