Volmoed is a retreat & conference centre in Hermanus, near Cape Town, South Africa. The focus for its 40 years is reconciliation & healing - racial, gender, also within families or groups, & environmental concerns for the land & property. Groups, individuals come for rest, renewal, training programs, conferences on reconciliation, peace building, leadership, group learnings, wellness retreats. Volmoed is continually raising funds to operate the programs & sustain the centre for the next 40 years
South Africa has many challenges, including ongoing trauma & difficulties related to Covid-19; economic hardship amidst increasing basic costs of life; the horrifying statistics of Gender Based Violence & Femicide (GBVF); the legacy of apartheid South Africa; meaning that people need a peaceful, healing space, programs and resources to help them heal and survive, which Volmoed has offered for 40 years. Volmoed now needs to raise funds to sustain this work for the next 40 years.
Volmoed exists for those in need of space, healing, peace, reconciliation, community, & more. Funds raised help Volmoed pay operating costs to run the retreat centre & host programs like retreats, art, reconciliation, wholeness, wellness; to replace ageing 40 year old infrastructure - water pipes, tractors, roofs & repair river areas damaged by 2023 floods. This benefits those in need of refreshment, renewal & restoration, & improves people's mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health.
Long-term impact on individuals & society is enormous. The effect of Covid-19 & lockdown in South Africa took a toll on people's mental, emotional, spiritual & physical health. By having income to operate & welcome people to this healing space, many will benefit & be able to function in a more healthy way, & once more contribute to society. It will have a ripple effect that makes the people of South Africa & other visitors more whole and healthy. A wonderful gift to offer for the next 40 years!
