At The Small World, our Child Education Sponsorship Program is deeply rooted within and bonded to the child's family, school, and community. This framework ensures a positive and supportive background that ripples throughout the children's lives, benefiting them as well as their relationships. Our goal is to support immediately over 500 children in urgent need of return back to school for their continued education in remote Himalayan communities of Nepal.
The effects of Covid-19 in Nepal have our country facing an upcoming lost decade for children's education. This learning loss is disproportional among those students who have no access to any type of online and those who were already at risk of dropping out at the onset of the pandemic with the loss of families and jobs, especially seasonal trekking porters, single mothers & construction workers. Still, none of these sectors' businesses/ jobs is able to resume back.
We appeal to invest in children's education today because maybe still for one or two years these communities are challenged to find jobs as they wait for the tourism industry, and construction works to resume but if the children cannot go to school today they will drop out and there is very less likely they will return back to school. Children are in danger of pushing a whole generation in their communities back and becoming permanent school dropouts this will continue the circle of poverty.
This Children's Special Education Program will support over 300 children by protecting and providing the basic rights of children to receive equal education opportunities for a decent chance in our competitive world. We strongly believe that every child deserves an opportunity to reach their full potential and develop a thriving future for themselves and their families and communities, which ultimately impacts our world. When you educate a child, you educate the world.
