Over the last decade, WAFA has honoured community-based "silent heroes" throughout the world for their innovative grassroots solutions. Expanding its mission, WAFA has launched the Youth Climate Award in April 2021 to support young "climate warriors" who are working for community-based sustainable development. These under 25 sustainability enthusiasts are the committed future good citizens, who need to be supported, exposed and nurtured.
Without support people loose their motivation to help themselves.
The uniqueness of WAFA is the EMPOWERMENT and VISIBILITY the AWARDS provide for local communities around the world working with immediate and near-term solutions.
Due to the unprecedented exposure, the projects that could not take off in scarcity of resources will get a chance to scale and replicate. These sustainable solutions will help combat climate change that could otherwise adversely affect human life. This exposure will create awareness about the sustainable measure which can be adopted by those who are in great need. Eventually, WAFA award winners and aspirants will also follow it to their benefit, and this will help in spreading solutions.
