As another school year comes to an end, we want to thank you for being here for children with cancer in Ukraine. Because of your support, families are not left alone during the hardest time of their lives. Children can continue receiving treatment, essential care, and moments of childhood despite cancer.
For many children, these days are filled with celebrations, classmates, and excitement for summer vacation. But for children fighting cancer, the end of the school year looks very different.
Instead of classrooms, they spend their days in hospital rooms, recovering from surgeries and chemotherapy. Many children study remotely or miss school entirely while fighting for their lives, just like 9-year-old Roman.
Before cancer, Roman loved swimming, playing outside with friends, and studying math at school. Everything changed in May 2025, when doctors diagnosed him with bone cancer after what first seemed like a minor sports injury.
Since then, Roman has undergone around 15 surgeries and 7 rounds of chemotherapy. Today, he cannot walk because his bones are extremely fragile, and doctors continue making difficult decisions about his treatment.
Roman misses school deeply — his classmates, breaks between lessons, and even math tests. When he returns home between treatments, friends visit him and stay connected through online games. These moments of childhood matter more than ever.
For children like Roman, cancer takes away much more than health. It steals friendship, carefree moments, and the simple experience of being a child.
Your support helps children keep fighting not only for recovery, but also for the chance to return to school, friendship, and childhood.
Please make a donation today to support children fighting cancer in Ukraine.
Thank you for standing with children like Roman.
