The Joy of access to water

Dear Family, Supporters and Friends of Serendipity,

We have reached another milestone which is providing access to water in two locations in two local governing councils in Kano, a community in Amarzakaya in Ungogo and Tofa Town in Tofa.

In Amarzakaya Community, 550 persons will have access to water as the handpump was cited in the middle of the community thus giving access to the children and women who go to source water for their household use with free time to go to school and the women performing other chores at home.

In Tofa town, 750 out patient women and children (May 2021 hospital records) will benefit from the handpump installed at the primary healthcare centre thus ensuring the healthcare center remains clean as it will be used to clean the premises, used to sanitise the hospital equipments and for good hand washing practices.

As part of our policy in Serendipity we ensure we follow due process in delivering our programmes and thus ensure that we sign an MOU with the communities or schools or primary healthcare centers for sustainability of the hand pumps in regards to maintainance and security of the water source against theft. We also call for tenders for drilling companies to bid for the installation of the water access such that good quality materials are used for drilling and the water access installed comes with a guaranty for 1 year.

This has been our success story over the years as water sources installed 12 years ago in communities are still working.

Our next steps after we conclude on the installation of access to 3 additional water source in the coming weeks will be distribution of COVID 19 materials, trainings on good hand washing practices and workshops to identify and certify our schools as WASH Friendly schools.

Our goal is to provide access to water in five local governing councils, Ventilated Improved Pit Latrines in two local governing councils, provision of COVID 19 materials and workshops to make our schools WASH Friendly.

We are grateful for your continued support and would appreciate any further assistance to our cause. Tell your friends the story on why you chose us, start a fundraiser on our behalf, donate during our campaigns or contact us via email on samirah@serendipityhealthcare.org.in or serenhealthcare@gmail.com for advise on our projects..

Best Regards,

Samirah Faruk
