The negative impact of the COVID-19 no doubt represents unprecedented time in modern history that requires the best in us to overcome. Since the outbreak of the Corona Virus in Nigeria in late February, unfortunately clean water provision as essential as it is in prevention of the spread of the pandemic was not regarded as priority. Your donation to this fund will help stop COVID-19's spread and protect many in Yelwa Shendam, a market village in the southern part of Plateau State, Nigeria
With the COVID-19 Pandemic ravaging Nigeria, the near absence of drinking water (also known as potable water as the water that is safe to drink or to use for food preparation) in the market village of Yelwa Shendam Village located in the Shendam Local Government Council of Plateau State in Nigeria is a disaster waiting to happen. With a projected population of 19,062 (2020) who are mainly very poor and they lack basic needs of life.
With the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and water contaminated with toxic chemicals and microbes, thousands of people in Yelwa Shendam are at a great health risk. You can help fix this by providing safe drinking water to a level where the contaminants just do not exist anymore by sinking boreholes and providing water storage facilities to the community. Clean water will prevent community from contacting diseases such as preventable diseases COVID-19, Typhoid Fever, Cholera and others.
Apart from prevention of COVID-19, cancer and heart diseases, the safe water to over 10,000 people in Yelwa Shendam helps the community; and the future generations shall benefit from it too by prevention of some of the commonly reported problems experienced from drinking impure water which include but are not limited to waterborne illnesses: Gastrointestinal Problems; Diarrhea/Nausea; Intestinal or Stomach Cramping; Intestinal or Stomach Aches; and Pains; Dehydration and Death.
