This project will give 100 people in a dry rural area access to clean water through household water tanks with filters. During the dry season, families walk long distances to fetch water from dirty ponds or dried-up streams. Many fall sick from drinking unsafe water. Each household will receive one water tank fitted with a filter. We will also train local helpers to clean and maintain the tanks to make sure families continue to have safe water every day.
In this dry rural area, people do not have nearby sources of clean water. They drink from shallow ponds or borrow from far-off villages. Water is carried on foot, often by women or children. Most of the water is dirty and causes sickness like diarrhea or skin infections. The few who can afford to buy water spend much of their money on it. There are no water tanks or simple filters in the community.
We will give each household a water tank and filter for daily use. The tanks will be large enough to collect and store rainwater or water from local sources. Each filter will remove dirt and germs before the water is used for drinking or cooking. We will also train local people to clean the tanks, fix leaks, and teach families how to store water safely. All learning will be done in local languages.
Families will have clean water at home without walking far or spending money to buy it. Children will fall sick less often, and women will have more time for other tasks. With trained local helpers, the tanks and filters will be kept in good condition. Families will learn simple ways to keep water safe. This will reduce disease, save money, and improve daily life for people in the community.
