Dear Donors,
We sincerely thank the donors who have already supported the Water Tanks & Filters for 100 People in Dry Area project. Your kindness shows concern for families who struggle daily to access safe water. However, the donations received so far will not be enough to kick-start the project. We are seeking additional support to begin fulfilling this important goal.
In this dry rural community, families walk long distances to fetch water from shallow ponds or seasonal streams. The water is often unsafe for drinking and cooking. Women and children carry heavy containers on foot, sometimes several times a day. Many fall ill from waterborne diseases such as diarrhea and skin infections. Some families spend scarce income buying water, leaving less money for food and other needs.
This project will provide each selected household with a water storage tank fitted with a filter. The tanks will allow families to collect and store rainwater or water from available sources. The filters will help remove dirt and harmful contaminants before the water is used. In addition, local community members will receive training on cleaning tanks, repairing minor faults, and teaching safe water handling practices in local languages.
Access to clean water at home will reduce the burden of long walks and lower the risk of illness. Children are expected to miss fewer school days due to sickness, and women will have more time for family and economic activities. With trained local helpers, the system can be maintained within the community.
Although we are grateful for the initial donations, more support is needed before distribution can begin. We kindly invite additional donors to join us in bringing safe water to families who urgently need it.
Sincerely,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
