Many families in rural Nepal still depend on unsafe or distant water sources for drinking and daily household needs. Through the Water4Life project, the remaining $7,443 will help install approximately 38-40 hand pumps, providing reliable access to safer drinking water for at least 1500 people. Each hand pump is expected to serve around 40-50 people, bringing water closer to vulnerable families and reducing the daily burden of water collection, particularly for women and children.

Women and children often spend valuable time collecting water, while contaminated water increases the risk of waterborne illness and places an additional burden on low-income families. Vulnerable villages, schools, and households need reliable water points located closer to their communities.
Water4Life installs durable hand pumps and community water points in underserved areas of Nepal. Each location is selected through a local needs assessment in coordination with community representatives. The project reduces dependence on unsafe water sources and provides families with more reliable access to clean water for drinking and daily use. Communities are also encouraged to help protect and maintain the water points.
Reliable access to clean water can improve hygiene, reduce exposure to waterborne diseases, and save valuable time for women and children. Children will have more time to attend school, while families may spend less time and money dealing with preventable illnesses. Community participation, local monitoring, and basic maintenance arrangements will help ensure that the water points remain functional and beneficial for years.
