By Heather Ferreira | Evaluation Research & Grants Advisor

Introduction

Way Forward After the Rescue is a Project of Rescue Foundation being implemented at the Mumbai Shelter Home. Major Girls post their release and rehabilitation are supported for a short period to complete their education, enhance their skills to pursue a job and be able to earn their livelihood.

During this period Rescue Foundation supports these girls along with education and job skills to monitor their health, counselling them to face problems of getting into the mainstream society, develop resilence and be responsible contributors to their own and community growth.

These girls have their owm quarters or a Group Home in the same complex as the Shelter Home.  They are supported with food, shelter vocational training for a short interim period till they are able to make a living for themselves.  Many of them choose to leave the Group Home once they are able to hold a job and live by themselves in the city.  Few of them also visit their families during festivals or summer vactations
