Introduction

Way Forward After the Rescue is a Project that supports Aftercare Services to Girls who are above 18 years and. have completed their Rehabilitation Period at the Mumbai Home of Rescue Foundation

Post rescue and admission girls are rehabilitated at our Home in Mumbai.  Girls who are above 18 years and who wish to stay back with the organization or do not have a place to go back are accommodated and supported with services which are known as Aftercare Services.  

Many of these girls are in the process of completing their school, college education, some of them are pursuing professional courses, internships prefer to stay back and build their lives in Mumbai

During this reporting period we have had 16 girls who were at various stages in their lives.  Few of them are completing their college education.  Few had secured jobs or internships and others were in the pursuit of securing jobs, preparing for interviews.  Some just stayed back as they did not have any family to go back to.

During the reporting period we hired a House Mother cum Counsellor to oversee their needs of counselling, health monitoring, college attendance, and provide career counselling.

2 of our Girls were trained as Nurses and are placed in Nursing Homes

4 of our girls have been attending regular Schools and Colleges and 2 of them are completing their 10th Grade from National Institute of Open Schools.  Some of the girls who required extra coaching for their studies have been provided with a Coaching Teacher besides one volunteer

  • Career Guidance & Livelihood Training
    Career counseling sessions conducted for one girl after appearing for her Class
    10th board exams, approached me for career counseling. She expressed interest in
    pursuing acting, dancing, or a beautician course. On further discussion, her readiness
    for formal studies was explored, and she shared that she does not feel she has the
    aptitude for academics. Currently, an acting course is not feasible; hence, she was
    guided to consider a beauty course as a practical and suitable career option.
    Identified beauty parlor training for Muskan where she can get stipend from the training
    period.

  • Another girl suitable degree course options were discussed for enrollment and explored how
    she could simultaneously pursue a part-time job.

Events Celebrated & Observed

1. Republic Day 2026 was celebrated along with the residents of the Kandivali Shelter Home

2. Holi was celebrated with great enthusiasm 

3. We had around 10 German Donors who visited the Mumbai Shelter Home and our girls did most of the arrangements, performances and distributed gifts to all of them

 Fashion Designing Course 

2 of our girls, after completing their 10th Grade gave an online interview and were selected for an Training in Textile & Fashion Designing at a Bangalore Institute.  They are doing very well. 

1 of our girls is preparing to give her Entrance Exam for LLB and she is being supported for the same.

1 of our girl has planned to do her B. Pharmacy Course after her 12th Grade and is preparing for the examination

Another girl is preparing to appear for her Fine Arts Examination post her 10th Grade

Reintegration into Family

The reintegration process began one month ago after she secured a job and her
The family migrated to Nallasopara. A family assessment was conducted for her reintegration, and all parameters were found to be satisfactory. The family is ready to accept her; her father has a stable income, and her sister is pursuing her master’s degree. Her training has been completed, and her employment has been confirmed.

One of our girls who was working as a Nurse has decided to go back to her family and continue working from her home.  We have had family counseling and wish her the best. 

Documentation support (ID cards, bank accounts, was provided for 2 girls)

Visit to Families

4 Girls visited their families and were back at the Home after spending some time with their loved ones.

3 Close family relatives visited to clear out few doubts about the girls and their choice of careers

Conclusion

We thank our donors for the support, it has helped us to accomplish so much more.
