Access to clean water continues to be a need for millions of people throughout Afghanistan. The UN's Sustainable Development Goal Number 6 is to, "ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all." AAFF is making this a priority in our efforts as we partner with Afghan communities to enhance their infrastructure.
AAFF participated in celebrating World Water Day on March 21 by providing a community of 400 families in northern Afghanistan a new handpump well. The community is known as the salty place. Although the community had wells, they were not dug deep enough to provide clean, fresh water.
Now the community has access to safe water within walking distance of their homes, which will improve their health, wellbeing and even save lives.
We are currently working on providing a well for a community in a remote area of northern Afghanistan. By the middle of May hundreds of families will have their need for clean water met.
Thank you for your partnership with us to provide lifesaving access to clean water for communities in northern Afghanistan!
