AAFF has had a very successful start to the year in our clean water project for Afghan communities. In our last update we shared that in 2023 we provided 13 Afghan communities access to clean water. So far in 2024, we have partnered with 9 Afghan communities to provide access to clean water within walking distance of their homes!
This means that over 1,000 families now can more easily collect and carry clean water to their homes to meet their families' needs for hygiene, cooking, and cleaning! Additionally, we are on track to exceed the number of wells provided in 2023.
One reason why we have been able to provide so many wells this year is because in some of the locations the depth needed to drill to get to sweet water is not very deep. Therefore, the cost of producing a well is less. This has enabled our well funds to stretch further - impacting more families.
Additionally, our amazing community of donors made the Little-by-Little campaign in April a huge success. Thirty-seven generous donors helped us raise $2,925 and receive $765 in matching funds for a total of $3690, which exceed our fundraising goal of $3,500! Thirty-seven donors bringing their donations together is making a huge impact for at least one Afghan community to have access to clean water soon!
