This year AAFF has completed 6 clean water systems for communities in northern Afghanistan.
Recently, in a remote region we provided a community a 3,000 liter insulated water storage tank.
The community explained to us that all other wells in the area had gone dry. In order to reach water, we had to dig deeper than usual. The required depth meant that our typical hand pump would not work.
We worked with the community to come up with a solution and determined the best option was an electric pump and a 3,000 liter insulated tank that would store the water and prevent it from freezing in the winter months. The tank has two faucets that enable two jugs to be filled at once.
This water storage system serves at least 200 families in the area and is positioned at the entrance of the town so those who are passing through can also benefit from it.
More than half of Afghanistan's population lacks access to clean water near their homes.
We are in the process of providing 4 more wells to communities in northern Afghanistan that should be completed by the end of the year. Your partnership with AAFF and Afghan communities is making this work possible. Thank you!
