Many Afghan communities continue to struggle to have access to safe drinking water near their homes. According to the 2023 Multiple Indicator Country Survey, 12 million people in Afghanistan still do not have access to safe drinking water. Additionally, as a result of three years of drought 42% of water points in the country have been damaged or dried up. Access to safe water is an ongoing need for much of the population.
In 2023, AAFF completed 13 wells in Northern Afghanistan, which exceeded our goal of 7. This has given thousands of Afghan families access to clean water near their homes, which is saving women and children from walking for miles to access water. Additionally, it is making it possible for these families to meet more of their water needs each day for their hygiene and health.
Thank you for your support to empower these 13 communities to have access to water near their homes. It has been truly life changing for them. In 2024, we plan to provide at least 7 communities access to clean water. We look forward to your continued partnership to make this possible.
