Lack of access to clean water affects millions of Afghans. Without access to clean water, hygiene suffers, risk of water-borne illness - especially in children - increases, and women and children's health and safety is impacted as they must walk long distances carrying heavy containers just to meet their families' basic water needs.
AAFF continues the work of providing handpump wells within Afghan communities, which helps to reduce the risk and hardship that life without access to clean water causes.
So far this year we have been able to provide 12 communities - over 1650 families access to clean water. This summer we provided another community a well making it possible for 150 more Afghan families to meet their water needs near their home.
Summer temperatures in Afghanistan are well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit making the need for water even more pressing.
AAFF has the capacity to provide at least 4 more communities access to clean water before the end of 2024.
We hope to make this a reality with an upcoming Safer World Fund matching fund campaign beginning in September. Be on the lookout for more details soon.
Thank you for your partnership to make it possible to "build hope" with Afghan communities.
