We are excited to share that 10 handwashing stations have recently been installed in 1 secondary and 9 primary Schools benefiting over 3,500 children. All the students in these schools were trained on effective hand washing using soap and water as a sure way of maintaining hygiene by keeping away germs. During the trainings, all recipient schools benefited from a month's supply of antiseptic soap. Before the project was done, all these schools lacked a unit for washing hands and therefore children had to do without washing their hands on many crucial times; especially before eating and after visiting the toilet. With these hand washing units in place, the hygiene of the children is now much assured and children can regularly attend school and concentrate on their studies.

Three Primary Schools (Kambiti, Wamunyu ABC and Mbaikini) with a total of 120 students are currently training on 21st century IT skills at the Kenya Connet LRC. When they complete their training, the group will add to the existing 452 students already successfully trained since the LRC opened its doors in November 2012. IT skills are preparing young children to the modern work place.
Many children in our enrolled schools are challenged by English language, as it is their second and sometimes third language to learn. In order to improve on their mastery of English language, students need to practice much on reading. Seven schools have benefited from a one-year's subscription to Young African Express Magazine (YAE). The magazine is a great tool in helping the children to master and improve both oral and written English language. More storybooks were purchased for the LRC library from Jacaranda Designs publishers. These new additions of books are authored by Kenyan writers.

We have also been able to built a composter at Mbaikini Primary school to recycle organic waste. The students were trained on how to make good compost and have had the opportunity to practically carry out composting. Recycling organic materials will produce compost for crops and flowers in the school while maintaining the environment clean.
Further more, three schools have benefited from soccer balls. These will help the students to develop their extra curriculum skills and allow them to play at recess and enjoy their life in school just as kids.
