Finn is an 8 year old boy who has quadriplegic cerebral palsy living with his Mum and Dad together, his brother, Theo (10) and their dog, Coco Pops in the village of Winford, UK. To greatly increase Finn's ability to join in outdoor family activities, particularly those involving water and the sea, he needs a specialist adult size Hippocampe beach wheelchair that will last him well into adulthood. Your donation will allow Finn to have a more fulfilling life.
The family cannot get funding from statutory agencies for the wheelchair, it's classified as for "leisure". Finn's cerebral palsy means that he has limited functions, however he is cognitively bright and extremely energetic and loves being outdoors. All of this makes life very frustrating for him as he is entirely reliant on his parents. The Hippocampe wheelchair is perfect for forest trails, for walking the dog, kayaking trips and going into the sea which all offer Finn more freedom to explore.
As Finn is getting heavier this activity is becoming strenuous and is very hard work for his parents who are finding it difficult to lift Finn easily anymore. The Hippocampe wheelchair is extremely stable and light and will be a huge benefit. It would also enable Mum to help Finn more and allow Dad to spend more time with his brother Theo.
The Hippocampe wheelchair will enable Finn to enjoy a more complete and active life with his family for many years to come.
