Project Report | Sep 21, 2023
saidika Organization quarterly report

By Dancan Okaka | Director

Executive Summary:

During this quarter, our dedicated team has continued to make significant advancements in our mission to support widows and alleviate the challenges they face. The key focus areas of our project include:

1. Financial Support and Empowerment:

  • Microfinance Program: We disbursed 150 microloans to widows, enabling them to establish or expand small businesses. This initiative has resulted in increased income and financial independence for 100 widows.

  • Skills Training: 150 widows participated in vocational training programs, equipping them with valuable skills for income generation and self-reliance.

2. Psycho-Social Support:

  • Counseling and Support Groups: Our psycho-social support sessions have reached 200 widows, providing them with a safe space to share experiences and access emotional assistance.

  • Mental Health Workshops: We organized workshops to raise awareness about mental health and its importance among widows. 150 widows attended these workshops.

3. Advocacy and Awareness:

  • Community Awareness Campaigns: We conducted 3 awareness campaigns, engaging 1000 community members to challenge stereotypes and promote the rights and dignity of widows.

  • Legal Aid Services: We offered legal assistance to 300 widows, ensuring they have access to justice and protection of their rights.

4. Health and Well-being:

  • Healthcare Access: 120 widows received medical check-ups and access to essential healthcare services through our health camps and partnerships with local clinics.

  • Nutritional Support: We distributed 50 nutritional kits to widows, ensuring they have access to healthy food options.

Challenges Faced:

  • Limited funding has restricted our ability to reach more widows and expand our programs.

  • Some widows still face social stigma and discrimination, making it challenging to fully integrate them into the community.

Future Plans:

In the coming quarter, we aim to:

  • Secure additional funding to extend our microfinance program and support more widows in achieving financial stability.

  • Collaborate with community leaders and stakeholders to raise awareness and combat discrimination against widows.

  • Explore opportunities to establish a dedicated Widows' Resource Center for comprehensive support service
