The projects aims to help people affected by the Summer 2026 Wildfires in France with different social actions. In the event that the amount of the donation exceeds the amount necessary to carry out the disaster relief as of July 31, 2027, the entirety of the unused funds shall be reallocated to strengthen the French Red Cross's preparedness, response, and crisis intervention capabilities in France, the purchase and pre-positioning of equipment and vehicles, training initiatives,..
In Southwest of France, the wildfire that broke out on July 22nd has burnt more than 50,000 hectares despite the efforts of approximately 1,000 firefighters. More than 200 houses have been burnt. People affected by wildfire need social and psychological support.
We have helped authorities with evacuations and will at short term help people affected by the wild fires to meet their social and psychological needs. We have also supported firemen, notably by replacing them on their emergency assistance mission.
In a long term perspective, the objective of the French Red Cross is to better prepare the French population to catastrophe such as wild fires, earthquakes, cyclones etc.. as well as better prepare the French Red Cross to respond to such crisis.
