Uganda National Heroes Day 2020 vis-à-vis COVID-19
Although Uganda celebrates National Heroes Day 2020 on June 9, 2020 and it is a public holiday detailed at: https://www.officeholidays.com/holidays/uganda/uganda-national-heroes-day; the government of Uganda could not stop its assignment it had assigned to the minister of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) to verify the situation of COVID-19 in Lango Sub-region in Northern Uganda.
Amidst the Kole District COVID-19 Task Force in the attendance of the review meeting was the project Leader of Kole Intellectual Forum; invited to represent the Civil Society Organization of Kole District; because of their charismatic activities to come out openly and join the district task force to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the project link on GlobalGiving page at: http://goto.gg/31562
In a speech delivered by the chairperson Kole District Task Force who is also Resident District Commissioner Kole; he observed that, since the declaration of the pandemic (COVID-19) in March 2020 to date; the district has not yet registered any positive result from anybody within district; although, the district had been quarantining about 6 suspects that are also at the moment discharged having found out that they were negative.
However, despite all these situations; the chairperson through the minister; requested the government of Uganda to continue supporting them with resources necessary to help them handle the emergency such as: District ambulances, motorcycles, and others including the food substances to be distributed to the needy. Building of the permanent quarantine Center was one of the key issues that emerged.
The minister responded by referring the district Task Force to the World Health Organization guideline as well as presidential directives; he promised to follow up their request from the line ministry and ensures that COVID-19 is prevented from Uganda.
The meeting was then close by the Chairperson Local V of Kole District.
