Hunting for the vulnerable Girls affected by closure of the schools due to COVID-19 pandemic
Governments worldwide including Uganda have implemented school closures as a preventive measure to the spread of COVID-19. According to UNESCO, school closures have sent about 90% of all students out of school, among them more than 800 million girls. Yet, the reality noted in this report is that: A substantial number of these girls live in the world’s least developed countries where getting an education is already a struggle.
Kole Intellectual Forum agrees with this report; because, when the organization announce for the commencement of its program to empower 20 girls in Home Economics on the 30th September 2020 in Kole District,- girls recruited before the closure of schools to prevent spread of COVID-19 - and they were called for verification and taking measurement of their school uniform; surpriisingly, it was discovered that, bout 50% of those girls recruited were nowhere to been seen; as per Kole Intellectual Forum progress report at: https://www.globalgiving.org/dy/v2/pe/progress-report/edit-progress-report.html?progressReport.id=155177
Despite all these challenges, through the organization’s mission of the fact findings, the organization has tasked its team to move to the villages in Kole District, Uganda, where these missing girls are leaving to record the facts about them. The organization is grateful to report to you that: through the process, the organization has recovered 3 of them photos above; and the campaign to hunt for them still stands before the management of the organization think of replacing them.
