We are grateful to report to you that: the year 2020 had been the year of double sword for Kole Intellectual Forum, a Community Based Organization working at the post Conflict area of Northern Uganda; at the beginning of the year (2020), by GlobalGiving, the organization was awarded with 4 badges; that was, being: top ranked, effective, vetted and site visited on the GlobalGiving crowd fundraising platform; this made it possible to be visible on the site of donors; and it is true that: despite a number of challenges including the emerging pandemic of COVID-19; the organization was able to raise fund from January to December 2020.
Secondly, because of the emerging of COVID-19, although the organization had been promoting quality, sustainable and potential education; but because of that, the organization modified it activities to include fighting girl’s child rights and COVID-19
To pursue these: a program of Home Economics was designed, being implemented, and is expected to trained and employed 10 girls under the next organizational program of social enterprise; liquid soap are made to campaign for promotion of hygiene in the hospital, community and schools in Kole District; face masks too are also being made to prevent COVID-19; 10 sewing machines were also procured as instruments necessary to support the activities of Home Economics; school uniforms for students were procured; roles of clothes for making school uniforms to be sold under program of social enterprise in 2021 were too procured; some elders were supported during COVID-19; youth empowerment project for 12 boys were also implemented, 12 boys trained in welding fabrication and the start-up kids procured, ready to start up the job work any moment in 2021; and more importantly, the organization managed to raise about $25,000 in the last 12 months by December 2020, somethng that had not before since the organization went through GlobalGiving Accelerator.
Hence, the year 2020, had been a year of double sword; a year of successes for the organization because of the services the organization provided to its community; and a year of challenge because the organization was forced to deviate a bit from its focus area of promoting quality, sustainable and potential education; not forgetting that the greatest thing the organization had done in 2020 is to engage the 10 girls out of school in their Institute of Home Economics.
With this annual report of 2020; in 2021, the organization still remains committed to service its community on the project page on GlobalGiving link at: http://goto.gg/31562
