Coronavirus, an additional risk to Girl child's traditional Risks
Although corona virus is affecting almost everybody across the globe; with exceptional of none; girls among others are those are that are most affected than any other person because of the numbers of risks they are exposed to. With Corona virus alone, girls are either affected direct or indirectly.
This has been the situation of the girls at Kole Intellectual Forum; beginning with the 20 girls the Institution had first admitted to attend their program at their Institute of Home Economics in 2019, and they were supposed to report their Institute in March, 2020; unfortunately when the varius emerged and it was declared to be a very dangerous pandemic of the year; the schools including all global sectors were lockdown till September 2021 when the lock down to certain extent were relieved in Uganda. From that time only 10 girls out of 20 admitted, that is about 50% reported for the program at the institute and the balance of 50% dropped out.
In the same way, when the president of the country (Uganda) locked down the country for the second time; because of the fear of the second wave of the same pandemic; another 3 girls out of the 10 girls dropped out of the program because of mainly the effect of Corona virus; and right now we have 7 girls out of the 10 that had been under going our program.
However, come 2022, with expected fund supposed to be raise from 2021#GivingTuesday, @GlobalGiving, #Movemillion to the project page of Kole Intellectual Forum; we intend to construct an Institute of Home Economics; geared towards empowering more girls with more rights and role down to the entire community of Kole District.
