You cannot be empowered unless you know the tools that empowers you
Throughout history and across since the beginning of nations till today, the history reveals; men on average have greater access to power (Brown, 1991). The gender power model suggests that power is generated on gender basis; particularly, men relative to women have greater access to the use of force, greater access to resource control, less social obligations to uphold, and more advantageous cultural ideologies (Pratto & Walker, 2004). Since than, this gender inequality can be observed in several aspects of daily life such as access to education, job opportunities, and economic resources including being exposed to resourceful places. According to a report by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (2014), they noted that: in 2011 only 20% of the low-income nations had achieved gender parity in primary education and 66% of the world’s 774 million illiterate adults were still women. There is consensus that gender equity is an important goal to be achieved by many including United Nations.
