Social enterprises: Creating value to all
Unlike a for-profit organization or company; Kole Intellectual Forum, a Community Based Organization who is a non-profit organization is one such organization that is promoting social enterprising as one of its goal to support its mission. According to the designers of the organization, the purpose of running social enterprise is to enable them to have a revenue-generating business with a twist. Aiming at two goals: that is to, achieve social, cultural, community economic and/or environmental outcomes; and, to earn revenue.
In other words, the social enterprising being run by the organization is meant to give benefit to people and planet and it uses the majority of any profit the get to further their mission. This social enterprise is meant to contribute to reducing economic inequality, improving social justice and to environmental sustainability and the girls those are the beneficiaries stand at the center of the purpose. The revenue generated are used to meet the administrative costs, pay salaries of the staff, support the students in terms of allowances to encourage them to learnt with the interest of getting more if they become self-reliance and the prices of the product, particularly, the school uniforms are cheaper than those at the open markets. Meaning that the benefit of these social enterprises is broad: form the beneficiaries, to the community to the staff and the then organization.
