Gender Equality is a tool to Sustainable Development
“We must rise higher the sustainable Development Goals-and stay true to our promise of a world of peace, dignity and prosperity on an healthy planet”- UN Secretary General António Guterres
As we struggle to meet this set Goal as the year 2022 is coming to end , we need not to forget that meeting such goal cannot only be possible without incorporating gender equality; an endeavors that critically look at how we can address a situation where all genders have equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities. Since Kole Intellectual Forum in its daily mission activities those are always guided by the principles of action research, they found out that: everyone across the globe in one way or another is affected by gender inequality – that is, women and men or children and families- all are alike.
As it has been noted by United Nations and learnt by Kole Intellectual Forum that: Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world; and because of that, there has been progress to move on over the last decades by many, but the world is not yet on track to achieve gender equality by 2030 as it was predicted.
The UN has been calling for a serious commitment and bold action from development partners to be accelerating progress, including promotion of laws, policies, budgets and institutions that advance gender equality. With Kole Intellectual Forum however small they are, Community Based and basically with the concentration on the empowering a girl child for self-reliance in Uganda; due to public outcry and also being such organization that is moving towards promoting gender equality; the organization by this year 2022 incorporated boys into the girls’ project by engaging them into the construction of the Institute of Home Economics that is expected to empower more the a thousand girls in the near future; they have again started to make selection on the new boys and also developing a new program with them that will be incorporated into the girls’ project as it had been before.
