Shortcut to Maslow theory of self-esteem
In a study conducted by Kole Intellectual Forum to build self esteem for their students for self-reliance was picked from the quote that:
“Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” E.E. Cummings
And the study further debated that: in the self-esteem movement that Kole Intellectual Forum has adapted was swept through Western culture for over the past 50 years ago, with parents and teachers alike doubling down on the idea that it would be better to improve children’s self-confidence to help them to improve on their performance, and it would also help them to be more successful in life (Baskin, 2011).
The movement according to the study, it indicated that: the movement started with a book published in 1969, in which psychologist Nathaniel Branden argued that most mental or emotional problems people faced could be traced back to low self-esteem; meanwhile Branden on the other hand laid it down on the foundation that: improving an individual’s self-esteem can not only result in better performance but it can even cure his/her pathology.
By unpacking the idea and using the concept closely; Kole Intellectual Forum is ensuring they do their best to any extent that they can afford to move their students gradually from the yoke of low self-esteem to better extent of self-efficacy, self-confidence, and then self-esteem without following all the laws of Maslow - the laws that call for a number of things - and hopefully we believe if we continue engage our students into skillful and practical things like reading, debating, singing, speaking and so on, then we believe they will reach at the level of self-esteem shorter then ever.
