What is the role of CSOs in peace building?
In an attempt to bring peace in a number of homesteads in Kole District: Kole Intellectual Forum, a CBO deeply rooted within the community and wants to see its community developing; they always try to organize community for a number of events that bring them together with the intention of looking into how best they can contribute towards the peace building of the area. In reference to Paffenholz and Spurk terms of definition, they identified seven functions that can be played by civil society in peace processes and the functions include protection, monitoring, advocacy, socialization, social cohesion, facilitation, and service delivery.
To accomplish these goals, Kole intellectual Forum is using several of the above mentioned functions to help them meet their target of peace building; but mainly, to address functional structures, emotional conditions and social psychology, social stability, rule of law and ethics, and cultural sensitivities
