Thanks to your donations, Action for Development has been able to continue to support the vulnerablepopulation in Kabul, and in this project in particular, children who work in the streets in the seek of income to survive. These children are deprived of all rights for them to basic needs, shelter, education, food, basic health services and are considered to be the most vulnerable.
AfD had developed a winterization plan for 2021-2022 based on the assessed most needs of vulnerable people in Kabul, Afghanistan. Since August 2021, and change of the regime, people face many problems due to restrictions, internal and external bans, disasters.
Through additional resource mobilisation AfD was able to organize two rounds of winterization support for street-working children and their families as a response to the increased instability and famine cause by COVID-19.
As mentioned in the previous report the majority of the assistance was distributed by December 2021.
The winterization program was implemented from November 2021 to end of January 2022.
Our project revolves around a integrated community development approach, where we connect the dots between our services and our beneficiaries. The street working children (amongst whom the majority are orphans or with parents who are disabled) are the most vulnerable persons affected by poverty in Afghanistan. Therefore, we enroll them into our centers to educated them and provide them a nutritious meal for lunch. Since most of them cannot earn sufficient amount of money (below 1$ per day) from their work (selling bags, gums, boiled eggs, washing cars, shoe polishing etc) their socio-economic status is the lowest compared to other levels of population. Therefore, these children receive education, food, health check ups etc as part of this integrated community development approach.
In total the funds were sufficient to support the 200 children’s families with a bag of coal, to warm their homes and be able to pass winter with less hectic problems
AfD would like to thank our donors, supporters and friends, who contribute to our projects and extend our gratitude to those who will continue to support us through their generous donations. Our capacity of providing aid and relief in cases of emergencies depends entirely on the funding available and for this reason we count on our donor community to make sure that we can support the most vulnerable communities of Afghanistan!
