Project Report | Feb 6, 2024
Summer report from the Wollangarra Flat

By Hamish McRae | Council

Firstly, the Woll community sends deep gratitude to Dan, Juliette, and Rowan, for taking on directorial duties for the last few months. Along with a range of hard-working volunteers, they've steered Wollangarra through many courses, close calls with both fires and floods, and all the other challenges that arose. Running programs and looking after the flat is no small feat, and we're immensely grateful for the commitment and passion they've brought to Wollangarra.

We're excited to welcome Anthony 'Smitho' Smith, Katie Green, and their three kids Frankie, Floyd, and Pearl as our new directors. They bring a wealth of experience to the role including working on the Wollangarra staff, running an environmentally focused water conservation business, gardening expertise, work in healthcare, and a strong love for community.

The unexpectedly heavy rain and abundant sunshine of this summer has resulted in a welcome bounty of plums, and a less-welcome excess of grass growth. Keeping the grass short is crucial for ensuring the safety of our site, and has necessitated some serious surgery on the old Fergy tractor to try to keep up with the slashing.

In times like these, your support, both in time volunteered and monetary donations, is more valuable than ever. The generosity of our community has always been the bedrock of Wollangarra's success, and we invite you to contribute in any way you can. Head to our website, social media or give us a call to ask about different ways you can help out.
