Hello wonderful Wollangarra supporters!
Another year has well and truly begun up at Woll, with a new staff team learning the ropes and settling into their beautiful new home. The garden is bountiful and the sheep, chickens and goat are all happy with the early summer rains keeping things green. The year has already kicked off with stage one and two courses and a stage three 'flat week' course is happening soon.
Wollangarra's first community event of the year, the fruit-bottling weekend was also a great success. The kitchen building got its first full trial run at this weekend, where members of the Wollangarra community gathered to bottle up as many of the orchard fruits as possible, as well as turning them into delicious jams and chutneys that will feed hungry young people for years to come! It was wonderful to see some familiar and some new faces up to help and we were all very excited to welcome the new staff team. They are a great bunch who have made a brilliant decision in signing up to work at Woll for the year! Make sure you get up to visit and meet them some time soon!
Many of you have donated to Wollangarra in the last few months, which is fantastic! As always most of our resources go into running courses and extra donations are vital for helping us move along with exciting projects around the Wollangarra homestead. So a heartfelt thank-you to those people, your money is going a long way - if you want to see for yourself come up to Wollangarra for the next work party and check out the outdoor kitchen! It is looking beautiful, surrounded by the beginnings of a handmade post and rail fence and some young fruit trees.
Of course the outdoor kitchen is still a bit of a way from being a fully functioning kitchen and has a fair few finishing touches to be added! There is also talk of re- designing the Wollangarra garden to make it even more productive and user friendly, and of course there is always the need to do repairs on buildings and gear that needs patching up. Thank-you once again for supporting Wollangarra, and make sure you come up and say hello if you have some free time up your sleeve and feel like taking a trip across a river on a flying fox!
