Hello Wollangarra supporters!
Things are trundling along as well as ever at Wollangarra. The sheep, the chickens and the garden are happy, surviving the odd blanket of white frost over the property! Courses have been running marvelously and non stop - with hikes for young people taking place in the lower hills around Wollangarra. At the moment the staff are enjoying an extremely well deserved two week break, before heading back for more courses.
Wollangarra hosted a 'Wood Chop' weekend in June, where supporters spent two days working hard to stock up the wood sheds for another year. It was a very sucessful weekend with young people around before and afterwards working on numerous projects and the wood shed left brimming.
Another fundraising event, 'The City Bushdance' was held on the 26th of June, where around 400 supporters of Wollangarra and its sister organisation Mittagundi gathered to dance and help raise money for the the two organisations. The night was a definite success - and a big thank-you to all who came along and had a go at the heel and toe! Wollangarra and Mittagundi will greatly appreciate the funds.
The staff are continuing to offer enriching courses and influence the lives of the many young people who cross over the flying fox into Woll. Justin, who has been living at Wollangarra for a year and has done brilliant work for the community has finished up his time and his position will be taken by a new staff member in a couple of weeks.
There will be a garden party weekend on the 12th of September which would be a lovely chance to come and spend some time on the property and hang out with the staff and other Wollangarra friends and to help prepare the garden for a productive spring and summer! Hope to see you there!
We are still working on the construction of the outdoor kitchen - see the photo of the great progress below! And we now have a beautiful set of gates, put up by our young volunteers. As always, extra help through donations is vital to Wollangarra's operation, and any support is received with extreme gratitude. A big thank-you to those of you who donated in the lat couple of months and to all of you for your continued interest in the goings on at Wollangarra!
