Summary

Your gift will empower women and girls to learn, lead and thrive in our digital world. Around the world, a lack of opportunities and resources prevent many women and girls from gaining the digital skills that connects them with greater opportunities, leaving them marginalised and disadvantaged. With your support, we will work with our local partners to ensure the women and girls in our programmes can not only access technology and data, but also receive training to become digitally literate.

Challenge

The gender digital divide is a global issue that negatively affects women and girls everywhere, especially for those less privileged and marginalised. Digital exclusion impacts many areas of women and girls' lives, limiting their access to information and education, as well as opportunities to equally participate in our increasingly digital societies. The COVID-19 pandemic moved many aspects of our lives online, making women and girls' lack of connectivity even more alarming.

Solution

Alongside our local partners around the world, we can provide women and girls with access to data and technology, as well as the training they need to become digitally literate. Many of the women and girls we work with have little or no access to the internet. Those that do, often do not have the skills to navigate it. Providing women and girls with digital access means that they won't fall behind on their education, and will be able to gain the skills they need to develop successful careers.

Long-Term Impact

Bridging the digital gender divide is essential to ensure women and girls can fully participate in our increasingly digital future. Digital literacy has been shown to result in higher earning potential and greater job opportunities. Women will also be able to access essential tools, such as online banking. By giving women and girls access to digital resources and the skills to use them, they can gain the power to shape their own futures and influence change in their communities.
