The schools in Uganda are currently closed due to the pandemic as in other parts of the world and The Angel Projects has been offering a tutoring service for the children in the area so that they do not fall behind in their studies. Remote learning is not a possiblity due to lack of computers, electricity and wifi as well as teaching the children how to use a computer in these remote areas.
We have four teachers who have volunteered to teach the children according to the syllabi used at the schools in the area. These children are able to continue learning together in small groups and we have opened our guest house to be used as classrooms and have had many people send support for school supplies as well as three chalkboards to help.
There just isn't enough room for social distancing, so temperatures are taken and any child that is not feeling well is asked to stay at home to keep this area free from any illinesses which could wipe out so many so quickly. Because of all the precautions that are in place (hand washing stations, masks, temperature checks, etc) there have been no cases of COVID 19 in this area.
We are hoping that schools open soon, but until then, we will continue teaching the children so they will not be left behind. Education is one of the critical components to eradicating poverty.
Thank you again for all your support because without it we would not be able to help these families.
