In Kapan, the leaves on the trees are starting to fall. Winter is on its way. Fruits and vegetables from the garden are pickled and jarred. Warm jackets, hats and gloves for the kids are needed to protect from the harsh southern Armenian winds. The roof needs to be patched.
So, Gohar and more than a dozen other women are busy crocheting over 20 different products for HDIF, including tape measure, vibrating animals, pencil cases and more. And HDIF markets them to the world, making sure they are ready for the winter.
HDIF wants to be sure these women have a solid roof over their heads, food on the table, and education for the kids - make sure they are prepared for the winter and for generations to come. This is how HDIF works to break the cycle of poverty.
We do it every day, and we do it well.
