Progress! Working with Displaced Artsakhtsis

By Tim Straight | Founder and Executive Director

Crocheted Pumpkin for HDIF USA
Crocheted Pumpkin for HDIF USA

In September of 2024, 120.000 individuals were forceably displaced from Artsakh.

Displacement means losing your home, your land, your animals and your social network. It takes time to absorb this enormous loss. You go through three phases - shock, deep grief and re-orientation. This is a natural human phenomenon.

HDIF has tried several times since their displacement to engage with Artsakhtsi, but it is only recently in early 2026 that we see that they are ready -  ready to put their skills to work, ready to develop products, willing to plan production. And they are incredibly good at it.

Here's a few of the products that we have developed together, supported by HDIF USA. We are so proud of them, and want to see this grow and grow....

HDIF's mantra has always been 'roof over the head, food on the table, education for the kids'. The Artsakhtsis lost all that 18 months ago. Let's help them rebuild.
